WHAT WE DO

Services offered by Vectis Advisory include:

  • Straightforward, practical opinions on the risks and rewards of litigating a dispute

  • A “second pair of eyes” to offer a one-off opinion, or ongoing guidance, on actual or potential litigation

  • Strategic guidance to bring clarity, either before or during litigation

  • Advice on claim merits for litigation funders or other investors

  • Support for in-house teams with limited litigation experience and/or stretched resources

  • Private corporate investigations

Our services are tailored to meet your needs. We can work alongside your established law firm relationships; or discreetly behind the scenes.

We do not represent clients in proceedings as we are not authorised by the SRA to conduct reserved matters, which include rights of audience and representing clients in court proceedings. However, Mark Dawkins maintains a practising certificate and so is subject to SRA regulations and its code of conduct.

Fees & Charging:

In our charging we aim to strike a balance between value for the client and fair reward for Vectis. Finding that balance requires flexibility, since how clients perceive value varies hugely from one case to another. So we take a staged approach:

- first we assess your case, or your problem;

- then we propose a fee arrangement.

That fee proposal may be a fixed fee, it may be fixed with an element of contingency or success, or it may be a conventional hourly rate, or for longer term projects, a daily rate.

If we assess your case and don’t think that we can add value, we will tell you and you won’t be charged. (But bear in mind: adding value can come in many guises. For example, we may tell you that you have a good claim for, say, £1m; but it would cost you £300,000 to pursue it, take three years and occupy hundreds of hours of your time. So, you might want to devise an early settlement strategy.)
